How to Make Great Websites for Less

Our good friends at .Net Magazine recently published a great article detailing 15 ways to keep costs down while making great websites.  One of our developers, Travis Roberts, was included in the piece with his insight on a competitive tool for project management:

"If paying is a deal-breaker, then Travis Roberts, developer for centresource, recommends Redmine, which has “great version control integration,' "

Accessibility with HTML5 and ARIA

When designing markup for a website or a web app, it's important to keep in mind that what others see is not necessarily what meets your own eye. Accessible design means that page elements are encoded with information about the structure and content of the document, so that screen readers and assistive devices can make sense of them, lacking the visual faculties that most of us take for granted. And while accessibility generally refers to non-sighted human users, machine users (like search engine crawlers) will also greatly appreciate your consideration.

This year's event brought together over 300 local design professionals and students to learn from some of our nation's leading creatives. This years speakers were:

The one-page website

Here in the creative room at centresource, we've been noticing a new trend popping up with more and more frequency in the world of web design: the one-page website. For a creative, it's an example of yet another way that designers and developers are figuring out how to break down the walls of traditional websites. And we love it.

Dangers of a Bad Website

In the early years, some could argue that having a website, albeit bad, was still superior to not having one at all. Websites were not the ‘norm’ and having one proved that your firm was unique and cutting edge. Fast forward 10 years and this is no longer the case – every business and organization is expected to have a website. But times are changing again! It is no longer acceptable to simply have a website. Now organizations are at risk to the dangers of a bad website.
