Changing The World 140 Characters at a Time
I often have conversations with fellow designers on how social media can positively affect the world when the internet can sometimes feel a bit overwhelming with its vast information of pop culture headlines, news tickers, and flashy advertisements. However, today I saw a glimmer of hope with an organization called 'Underheard in New York'! Underheard in New York is an initiative to help homeless residents in New York City speak for themselves and their mission simply states "Fighting Homelessness 140 characters at a time". They've provided 4 homeless men each with a prepaid mobile phone with a month of unlimited text messaging and a Twitter account in hopes that each man will use their social media presence to create real interaction and make them a part of our global community.
Centresource helps Tennessee Citizen Action launch new tool for voter engagement
No matter which side of the political aisle you sit on (or even if you stay as far away from politics as possible), one of the great things about our country is our right to elect those that lead our government for the next two, four or six years. But getting people to go to the polls sometimes takes a personal reminder, and that is where the phone bank application built for Tennessee Citizen Action comes in. Named 10 for TN, this application takes a database of phone numbers and creates a virtual phone bank by assigning each user of the system one phone number at a time. Endorsed by more than 14 organizations (and growing!), members can quickly register for an account and start calling voters to personally invite them to participate in early voting, or to vote on election day.
CentreSource launches new site for Mission Discovery
CentreSource recently launched a new site for Mission Discovery, a non-profit faith-based organization in Gallatin, Tenn. Mission Discovery specializes in short-term mission trips, representing a unique opportunity for teens and young adults to volunteer in such activities as building schools in Mexico, teach in Guatemala, or lend a hand in the disaster recovery efforts in Haiti. There are even opportunities closer to home to help inner city school children with their school work. Mission Discovery is all about connecting people with opportunities to grow in their spiritual journey by serving others.
Hope for Haiti: CentreSource launches new site for Trinity/HOPE
Devastation. Tragedy. Hopeless. Those were the words used to describe the recent earthquakes that struck the island of Haiti on January 12 near Port-au-Prince. To a nation that that was already struggling with poverty and trying to meet the basic needs of its people, the earthquake magnified the crisis for the world to see. Like many companies in Nashville, CentreSource matched its employees' donations to give $500 to the UNICEF organization to help with relief efforts.

CentreSource, Blood:Water Mission team up to launch video on World AIDS Day
Today marks World AIDS Day, a movement that seeks to raise awareness of the devastating effects of HIV/AIDS. Of the 30 million people worldwide that live with the disease, more than 70 percent live in Africa. Nashville-based Blood:Water Mission is a grassroots organization that empowers communities to work together against the HIV/AIDS and water crises.
CentreSource had the honor of producing a video for BWM to show how they are an organization that is about action, not hand-outs. They are about empowering communities to fight against these dangerous threats, not about the status quo in failed programs. The video guides the viewer through the harrowing statistics, but then changes the mindset of despair to promoting one of hope and empowerment.

IAVA is the first and largest non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to bettering the lives of veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and their families. We developed the Flash player and utilities that capture the spirit and message of the campaign. You will soon see this amazing video, "Camo," on television broadcasts across the country.
