The Social Revolution is here to stay. All marketers must learn to accept the challenges by customer driven participation by proactively focusing on the relationships. The tools are available to engage the customer’s voice. Beyond the story boards, focus groups, and internal discussions are the critics and influencers that for the most part, beyond the rants, do offer valid constructive criticism.

What is a Manifesto?

What is a manifesto?

Traditionally defined as: A public declaration of principles, policies, or intentions, especially of a political nature….

At Change This they define the word manifesto as one of many PDF files on their site that’s an argument, a reasoned, rational call to action, supported by logic and facts.

So who is Change This?

Amit Gupta, Catherine Hickey, Noah Weiss, Phoebe Espiritu, and Michelle Sriwongtong built ChangeThis in the summer of 2004. The original idea behind ChangeThis came from Seth Godin.

Setting Client Expectations through Mock-Up Design

One of CentreSource’s strongest areas is custom application development. We’ve worked with a number of fantastic clients who have asked us to create a variety of applications including ones to handle franchise management, online book trading, and qualitative research. With each of these, as well as a number of other development projects that we’ve worked on, we have had to figure out the appropriate times and methods to present a mock-up design of our work-in-progress to our clients.

Cross-Browser Normalization

If you work in a web design or development firm, then you are probably already very (if not too) familiar with the various idiosyncrancies across the major browsers. Even before you start to apply the stylesheets you can spot noticable differences in the way the browsers render the html. This is because the major browsers come with a default stylesheet they use to render html when nothing else is available. It is a very simple stylesheet, mainly affecting paragraphs, headings, links, and fonts. This is why, without any styling, unvisited links appear blue with an underline, among other things. While using links is a trivial example, small differences in font sizes and paragraph margins can become a headache and can cause you to start adding unnecessary fluff to your well crafted stylesheets. There are some techniques you can utilize to minimize the damage, or what we in the industry refer to as browser normalization.

PHP Frameworks: 57 and Counting…

I made a fatal mistake… I thought I could start investigating PHP Frameworks and determine a clear winner. Unfortunately, I quickly realized that there is no clear winner… no clear Mr. Popular… and even worse, no clear source of info to even get started. Well, I hopefully made a nice step towards fixing the latter issue – I gathered every PHP Framework I could find and compiled them into a list at Wikipedia. Going forward, hopefully others will find this list useful for starting their investigation. Oh yeah – one more thing… Did I mention there were 57 Frameworks I found???? Give me a break – how in the world can the PHP community get enterprise traction if we don’t settle on a standard. No wonder RoR is rising in popularity so fast…
