Who said 'print' design is dead?

Stencils

Some times you come across cool things, sometimes you come across great things... and then there are rare times when you come across something so epic that you have to proclaim the discovery from the snowy summit of the interwebs. This is one of those discoveries.

Here at Centresource we do a lot of initial sketch concepts / prototypes for clients. We have found it is more effective and economical to hone in on "look & feel" direction by quickly drawing rather than pushing pixels in Photoshop. Historically I have just grabbed a blank sheet of paper out of the printer and started to doodle until something emerges that resembles a website. That is until I stumbled upon the Website Stencil Kit from UI Stencils.

It is great how they standardize many common UI elements to quickly stencil and then move on to more important client specifics. It comes with the stencil and a mechanical pencil, but you can also buy Browser Sketch Pads which are amazing. I suspect I will be using this for every one of our bootcamps from now on (and the crowd cheered).

But in the 21st century Internet standards have succeeded in separating printing design and content. The two live more and more interdependent, interrelated and sometimes sometimes completely separated from each other.
