Centresource helps Tennessee Citizen Action launch new tool for voter engagement
No matter which side of the political aisle you sit on (or even if you stay as far away from politics as possible), one of the great things about our country is our right to elect those that lead our government for the next two, four or six years. But getting people to go to the polls sometimes takes a personal reminder, and that is where the phone bank application built for Tennessee Citizen Action comes in. Named 10 for TN, this application takes a database of phone numbers and creates a virtual phone bank by assigning each user of the system one phone number at a time. Endorsed by more than 14 organizations (and growing!), members can quickly register for an account and start calling voters to personally invite them to participate in early voting, or to vote on election day.
One thing that excited us about this project was the challenge of a short time line (let’s face it — if the application had been late to launch, it would not be nearly as effective) and that we got to work with the team from Tennessee Citizen Action to build the app to their specifications using the Symfony PHP platform. We implemented some specific rules about following up based on the call outcome, so the process stays as seamless as possible even with volunteers calling from all across the state of Tennessee.
If you have 10 minutes, check out the application and encourage people to exercise their right to vote!
