Winner of Excellence in Sales: Evan Owens
Before you begin to picture a door-to-door, truth-twisting, pushy and annoying sales guy, think again. Last week, I was honored to be named the top sales person in the Media and Advertising space. I have to admit that being called a sales person still irks me a bit.
When I first began at CentreSource, I demanded that the title on my business card be changed to “Solutions Consultant.” To this day, I have no clue what that actually means, but I would think it means I help people find opportunities and solve problems. In my effort to say something profound during the City Paper interview, I said, “We want to make sure we’re delivering the outcome the client wants, not just a list of deliverables.”
I’ll admit it’s not all that profound, but I do believe it’s true: as I sat in a room full of the brightest consultants in Nashville, I saw the common thread. Everyone there separated themselves from simply making the sale, and instead focused on doing what was right for the client. The sales naturally followed and didn’t take much prompting.
So in conclusion, if you feel like you’re not being given advice by your web firm….call me on my cell. (Sales Plug…Sales Plug…)

Congratulations Evan! From what I have seen you deserve the recognition. I know I learned a lot from your advice and example during my internship. Also, I am going to try to stop by soon to say hi to the team. I miss all you guys and hope everything is going as well as it can in this economic downturn.
