I’m telling Mommy… AMD files against Intel

Being a huge fan of AMD, I’ve always felt that Intel (like Microsoft) had an unfair advantage that it wielded with great power against competitors. I think AMD should have done this years ago, but now they are taking the battle to court. If they can afford the lawsuit, the case may be a slam dunk due to Intel’s widely known strong-arm tactics (”Intel inside anyone?”).

Intel should be worried. AMD cooperated in a Japan led investigation of Intel which ultimately resulted in sanctions against America’s leading chip maker.

The JFTC ruled against Intel, saying the chip maker used its position to influence several Japanese PC manufacturers to limit or eliminate AMD chips used in their systems. Intel, in response, accepted the JFTC’s recommendations, which called for it to cease practices such as offering favorable prices to companies that agree to limit their use of AMD chips. But the company said it disagreed with the JFTC’s finding of facts and with the application of the law in its recommendations.

C’mon America… We reward hard-working capitalism – not bullies. AMD has been a hardworking, fair playing company for a while – and Intel’s sheer dominance as a monopoly is keeping a good player from getting ahead.
